Foundations in Curiosity

One Class. Seven Faculty. Endless Curiosity.
Foundations in Curiosity isn’t your typical college course. It’s the only UW discovery seminar in College Edge where you’ll learn from seven different professors—each bringing their own expertise, perspective, and style. Over four weeks, you’ll sample seven distinct mini-courses across disciplines like architecture, English, political science, cinema studies, and more. It’s a one-of-a-kind introduction to the intellectual life of the university.

Explore, Reflect, and Experiment—Before Fall Quarter Even Starts
This class invites you to approach college with curiosity and an open mind. Each week brings new themes—from space-time and modern architecture to podcasting and personal storytelling—all woven together through guided reflection. You’ll get to experience how different disciplines tackle complex questions, and discover how your own thinking evolves when you’re invited to connect the dots.

A Low-Stakes, High-Reward Start to Your UW Experience
Held during College Edge (Aug 25–Sept 16), this 5-credit seminar is designed specifically for incoming first-year students. With a Credit/No Credit format, small class size, and no exams, it’s the perfect place to experiment, grow, and build confidence in a supportive academic community. If you’re curious, open to new ideas, and eager to meet inspiring professors from day one—this is the class for you.

Curiosity isn’t just a trait—it’s a practice. Come build yours.
