International students are eligible and highly encouraged to participate in College Edge! As an international student, you’ll have the chance to:
- Become familiar with college life and routines
- Make friends with other new students
- Earn five credits and get a head start on academics
- Acclimate to life at UW and familiarize with the city of Seattle
Important Travel and Immigration Dates
College Edge is offered in-person. First-year students participating in College Edge should use their autumn quarter I-20 to enter the U.S. There is no separate I-20 or different start date for students taking College Edge courses.
PLEASE NOTE: All international first-year students with an autumn quarter initial I-20 may enter the U.S. up to 30 days before the start date listed on the initial I-20 — no sooner than August 16, 2025. You should not travel to the U.S. earlier than August 16 to participate in College Edge.
If you receive a transfer pending I-20 from the UW, you are exempt from the 30-day entry requirement and you may return to the U.S. at any time. Please make your travel plans accordingly.
For more information about the I-20, refer to the New Huskies to-do list or email International Admissions at intladm@uw.edu.
Courses
International students can register for any College Edge course that interests them. There are two types of courses to choose from:
- English 108 Writing Courses help prepare you for college-level study by improving essential reading, writing and communication skills.
- Discovery Seminars are intensive arts and sciences courses that offer an in-depth exploration of a specific subject.
Ways to Engage
The Center for International Relations & Cultural Leadership Exchange (CIRCLE) is an on-campus hub of resources for UW International Students. Find and make friends, engage in academic and professional coaching sessions, attend events and find a sense of community with CIRCLE. Students can engage with the CIRCLE community before they get to campus!
