Explore gesture during College Edge
College Edge students have two meaningful ways to explore gesture, UW’s innovative program that blends human skills with AI-powered learning. gesture reimagines college and career preparation by helping students better understand themselves, their learning, and how they want to show up in a rapidly changing world.
Whether you are curious about AI and want to explore it through a free one-day workshop, or interested in a deeper experience through a 1-credit course, gesture offers a thoughtful starting point. You will reflect on your identity as a learner, begin shaping your personal story, and experiment with AI as a tool to support your thinking and creativity. Along the way, you will build confidence, connect with others, and start your college experience with greater clarity and intention.

Free gesture Workshops During College Edge
This summer, College Edge students can join a free one-day gesture workshop designed to help you start strong. These sessions offer a hands-on introduction to how gesture connects story, identity, and AI in the early college experience.
Workshops may explore topics like shaping a strong first impression, introducing yourself with confidence, or experimenting with emerging tools in creative, low-pressure ways. You’ll have the chance to reflect on who you are, connect with other students, and begin thinking about how you want to show up in college and beyond.
It’s a great option for students who want to explore gesture without committing to the optional 1-credit ARTSCI 150 course.
ARTSCI 150: Whose Story? Connecting with Others in an AI-Driven World
Offered asynchronously online, fits with all Discovery Seminars
1 credit | CR/NC grading | Open to College Edge students
$450 tuition fee
This course is designed to support students as they begin their transition to college. Grounded in gesture’s approach to learning, the course invites students to reflect on who they are, how they learn, and how they want to show up in a new academic and social environment.
Rather than treating AI as a set of tools to master, students explore how it can support their thinking, creativity, and problem-solving in real, personal contexts. Through guided reflections and low-stakes experimentation, students begin to develop an “AI story” that captures how they use emerging technologies to support their learning and navigate new challenges.
The course emphasizes connection. Students build awareness of themselves, relate to others, and engage more intentionally in their college experience. By the end of the course, students will have a clearer sense of their identity as a learner, greater confidence in how to approach new environments, and a starting point for articulating their story in a rapidly changing world.
Seats are limited! You can add ARTSCI 150 when registering for your College Edge Discovery Seminar. Students cannot take ARTSCI 150 as a stand alone 1-credit course- they must also be enrolled in a College Edge 5-credit seminar in order to participate.
